Oppo and OnePlus Developing Massive 8,000mAh Battery with 80W Charging
In a significant development, Oppo and OnePlus are reportedly testing a massive 8,000mAh battery with support for 80W SuperVOOC charging. This new battery technology was revealed by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. It boasts a substantial increase in capacity. The charging speed has also improved significantly.
The new silicon-carbon battery is currently under development by Ouga Lab. Ouga Lab is a combined research and development group comprising Oppo and OnePlus teams. This new battery raises the silicon content to 15%. This marks a significant improvement. The silicon content in the Si/C battery used in the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro was only 6%.
It’s unclear whether this massive battery will make its way to upcoming Oppo and OnePlus handsets. However, there is speculation that it might arrive on future flagship models. These could include the successors to the OnePlus 13 or the Oppo Find X8 series.
This development is part of a larger trend. Chinese smartphone makers are adopting advanced Silicon Carbon (Si/C) battery technology. This technology offers several benefits over traditional lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries.
Key Features of the New Battery:
- Capacity: 8,000mAh
- Charging Speed: 80W SuperVOOC charging
- Silicon Content: 15%
- Battery Technology: Silicon-Carbon (Si/C)
This massive battery development is expected to significantly enhance the battery life of future Oppo and OnePlus smartphones. It will make them more competitive in the market.
