Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan Shakes Up Leadership Team
Santa Clara, California: Intel’s new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, is restructuring the company’s leadership team to focus on innovation and efficiency. According to a memo seen by Reuters, key chip groups will report directly to Tan.
Key Changes
- Data center and AI chip group, and personal-computer chip group will report directly to Tan.
- Networking chip chief Sachin Katti promoted to Chief Technology Officer and Artificial Intelligence Chief.
- Katti will lead Intel’s AI strategy and product roadmap.
Tan’s Vision
Tan aims to make Intel a leaner, engineering-focused company. “I want to roll up my sleeves with the engineering and product teams,” he wrote. “Organizational complexity and bureaucratic processes have been slowly suffocating the culture of innovation we need to win.”
Challenges Ahead
Intel faces stiff competition from Nvidia in AI chips. Tan’s restructuring aims to speed up decision-making and promote innovation. The company is also looking for a new head of government affairs to manage relationships with governments worldwide.
