Google Photos Unveils Hidden Shortcut to Classic Search
Google Photos users with Gemini Advanced subscriptions can now access a hidden shortcut to switch to the classic search experience. The shortcut allows users to bypass the Ask Photos-driven search interface.
Ask Photos, rolled out in September 2024, uses artificial intelligence to enable natural language queries for image searches. However, some users find it slow and unreliable.
To access the classic search, users can double-tap the Ask Photos icon. This icon is located in the bottom-right corner of the Google Photos interface. This feature is currently not working on the Google Photos app for iOS, according to reports.
The classic search also supports natural language queries, allowing users to find images faster in a familiar workflow. Users can switch back to Ask Photos by tapping the icon again.
Gemini Advanced subscribers can use Ask Photos to search images based on face groups, location, and date. They can also search by content and contextual references during conversations.
