Spotify Expands Premium Audiobook Service to New Markets
Spotify announced the expansion of its premium audiobook service, Audiobooks+, to individual premium subscribers. It is also expanding to additional members of Premium Family and Duo plans. The service is now available in 11 new countries, including the UK, Australia, and Germany.
Key Features
- Audiobooks+ for Plan Members: Additional members of Premium Family and Duo plans can access 15 hours of audiobooks per month.
- Top-up Option: Members can buy a one-time 10-hour listening experience if they exceed their quota.
- Audiobooks+ for Individual Premium Members: Individual premium members can access 15 hours of audiobooks per month. This benefit includes Family and Duo plan managers.
Availability and Pricing
The service is currently available in several countries. These include the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. It is also available in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Lastly, it is available in Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. The company has not announced a timeline for rollout in other regions, including India.
Benefits
Spotify claims the new plans will offer greater flexibility to subscribers and help publishers and authors reach new audiences. The move may help the company recuperate some of its losses, as its Q1 2025 operating profit was below estimates.
