Google Adds Inline Media Player to Gemini App
Google has introduced a new feature to its Gemini mobile apps. This allows users to play Audio Overviews directly within the app. Previously, users had to visit the Gemini website to play these audio files.
Key Features:
- Interactive media player with play/pause button and seeking bar
- Options to rewind, skip 10 seconds, and adjust speech speed
- Download button to save audio files for local playback
Audio Overviews generate podcast-style discussions between two AI hosts, conversationally discussing topics and adding reactions. This feature was first introduced in NotebookLM and later expanded to Gemini.
The update is now available globally, including for free tier users. Google may be testing Audio Overviews for AI Overviews in Search, following its popularity in NotebookLM and Gemini.
