Planet Nine: The Hidden Giant of Our Solar System
Astronomers have long proposed the existence of a large, hidden planet in the distant regions of our solar system. In 2016, Caltech astronomers Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown revived this idea with the concept of Planet Nine.
The theory suggests that Planet Nine is a massive planet, several times the size of Earth, orbiting far beyond Neptune. Its gravitational pull could explain the unusual orbits of distant Kuiper Belt objects.
Recent discoveries, such as trans-Neptunian objects with elliptical orbits, support the Planet Nine theory. Brown remains confident, stating that there are no other explanations for the observed effects.
However, the theory faces challenges. Some astronomers argue that there is insufficient data, while others propose alternative explanations. The search for Planet Nine continues. Astronomers are using ground-based telescopes. They are also using space-based telescopes to explore the remote edges of our solar system.
The mystery of Planet Nine remains unsolved, but ongoing research offers hope for uncovering the truth. If Planet Nine exists, it could be hiding at a distance of at least 500 AU from the Sun.
