Vast Space Prepares to Launch Haven-1, World’s First Private Space Station
Vast Space is set to revolutionize space habitation with Haven-1, the world’s first privately owned space station, launching in 2026. This single-module habitat will be carried on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, hosting four astronauts for 10-day missions.
Haven-1’s Features:
- Interior Space: 45 cubic meters, roughly the size of a tour bus
- Crew Quarters: Four small quarters and lockers for science gear
- Common Area: Space for dining and experiments
- Life Support: Proven shuttle-era technology with an “open-loop” design
- Domed Window: 1.1-meter window for expansive views
Launch and Testing:
- Launch Date: Scheduled for spring 2026 on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket
- Testing: NASA supports system testing, including vibration and thermal-vacuum tests at Glenn Research Center
