PhonePe Partners with OpenAI to Bring ChatGPT to Indian Users

PhonePe, the Flipkart-owned Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform, has announced a strategic partnership. OpenAI, the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence (AI) giant, is their new partner. This collaboration aims to integrate ChatGPT’s features into PhonePe’s platform, enhancing user experience and enabling informed decision-making during purchases.

Key Highlights:

• ChatGPT Integration: Users will access ChatGPT’s capabilities within the PhonePe app. They will also use it in the PhonePe For Business app. Users receive AI-powered assistance for travel planning, shopping, and more.
• Mutual Growth: The partnership seeks to increase ChatGPT adoption in India and foster business growth for both companies.
• Expanded Reach: OpenAI gains access to PhonePe’s vast user base and ecosystem, including the Indus Appstore.

Oliver Jay, Head of International at OpenAI, praised the partnership, citing PhonePe’s understanding of India’s market and user base. This collaboration marks another milestone in OpenAI’s India-focused strategy, following its recent office opening and data center investment.

PhonePe’s partnership with OpenAI follows similar collaborations, including Razorpay’s integration of ChatGPT for AI-based UPI transactions
