Starlink India Pricing Glitch Explained

Starlink’s India website displayed incorrect pricing due to a glitch; service launch remains pending.

Starlink Updates India Website, Says Prices Were Shown by Glitch

Starlink has not launched in India yet.
The satellite internet service is still waiting to start operations.
But its India website recently showed monthly prices.
The price included subscription and hardware for the Residential plan.

After the prices appeared online, the company reacted.
A Starlink executive said the India website is not live.
The prices were shown due to a technical glitch.
The company said it is not taking orders in India.

Company Explains the Issue

Starlink Vice President Lauren Dreyer posted on X.
She said the service pricing in India is not final.
She confirmed that “dummy test data” was displayed.
It was caused by a “config glitch” on the website.

Dreyer said the numbers do not show the real cost.
She added Starlink is waiting for final approvals.
The website will go live after the government clears it.
The prices have now been removed from the website.

Approval Received, Spectrum Pending

Starlink has a licence to operate in India.
It was reportedly approved in July by the DoT.
The licence is valid for five years.
Only two other companies got approval before Starlink.

But the government has not given spectrum yet.
Without spectrum, Starlink cannot start services.
Experts say operations will begin only after allocation.

Prices Spotted by Users

The surfaced price was Rs. 8,600 per month.
Hardware was shown at Rs. 34,000.
The website also showed unlimited data.
It mentioned a 30-day trial for Residential users.

The details are now removed from the site.
Starlink has not confirmed any pricing officially.
The launch date remains unknown.
The company says it is ready once approvals are done.
