Zeiss Unveils Aatma Prime Lenses in India
Zeiss launched its new Aatma series prime lenses in India on Tuesday. The Germany-based optics giant targets professional cinematographers and filmmakers with this lineup. Moreover, the company opens pre-orders immediately through its online store and select authorised retailers.
The Aatma series includes nine full-frame cinematic primes. Focal lengths range from 18mm to 135mm: 18mm, 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 65mm, 85mm, 100mm, and 135mm. Customers buy the complete set or individual lenses based on their needs.
Zeiss draws inspiration from 20th-century classics for the retro design. These T1.5 aperture lenses deliver soft skin textures and reduced contrast. Additionally, they offer smooth focus transitions, beautiful bokeh, and a subtle soap-bubble effect.
The company claims the lenses capture organic, emotionally resonant imagery. Filmmakers achieve stylised precision in textures and atmospheres. Thus, the Aatma series suits most cinematic applications perfectly.
Zeiss integrates its proprietary eXtended Data (XD) technology. This provides frame-by-frame vignetting and distortion data. Furthermore, it includes standard metadata via Cooke /i technology.
The lenses support the Zeiss CinCraft ecosystem seamlessly. Users manage workflows for visual effects, camera tracking, and virtual production easily.
Delivery begins in June for the Aatma primes. Zeiss also confirms summer shipments for the Panoptes 65 series. That T2.2 lineup features ten focal lengths from 25mm to 180mm.
Pricing details remain unannounced for now. However, the lenses appear on the Zeiss India online store for pre-order. Professional filmmakers eagerly await these vintage-inspired tools.
The Aatma series strengthens Zeiss’ cinema portfolio. It blends heritage design with modern performance. Thus, creators gain fresh options for storytelling on screen.
