Airtel and Google Enhance RCS Security in India

Airtel and Google collaborate to enhance RCS messaging security, combating spam and digital fraud effectively.

Airtel has partnered with Google. They aim to boost security for Rich Communications Services (RCS) messaging in India. This collaboration fights spam and digital fraud on mobile devices.

Airtel combines its telecom network intelligence with Google’s RCS platform. As a result, stronger verification and filtering checks now protect rich messaging. The improved service reaches Android users through the Google Messages app. Moreover, it adds extra protection to everyday mobile messaging.

Airtel integrates its AI-based spam detection tools into Google’s RCS framework. This setup enables real-time monitoring of business communications. Additionally, it strengthens sender authentication. It also filters suspicious or malicious content more effectively.

Users still enjoy key RCS features. These include high-resolution photo and video sharing. They also get typing indicators, read receipts, and message reactions. At the same time, the system blocks spam and fraudulent links.

Airtel’s AI-powered anti-spam systems perform strongly. In the past 18 months, they blocked 71 billion spam calls. Furthermore, they stopped 2.9 billion spam SMS messages. These efforts reduced reported financial losses by 68.7 percent on Airtel’s network.

However, gaps exist on some over-the-top messaging apps. These apps often skip telecom-grade security standards. Therefore, the new RCS system fills important protection gaps.

The partnership introduces multiple safety layers. It verifies business senders through telecom-backed checks. It enforces Do Not Disturb rules by sorting messages as promotional or transactional. Moreover, it blocks spam from flagged business accounts. The system uses multi-layer threat detection to filter harmful links. It also limits messages from senders caught by Airtel and Google’s AI filters.

Both companies highlight the value of this collaboration. Telecom operators and tech platforms work together effectively. As a result, they strengthen security, verification, and accountability. This effort improves India’s digital messaging ecosystem for millions of users.
