Meta is preparing to launch its next generation of AI-powered smart glasses. Recent regulatory filings with the FCC suggest that two new Ray-Ban Meta models may arrive soon.
The company has submitted documents for devices named Ray-Ban Meta Scriber and Ray-Ban Meta Blazer. These filings indicate that the final units are ready. This points to an imminent launch in the coming months.
According to tech reporter Janko Roettgers in his Lowpass newsletter, the new models carry model numbers RW7001 and RW7002. This marks a big jump from earlier versions, which ranged from RW4002 to RW4014. The higher numbers suggest significant hardware upgrades.
The filings also mention a charging case. This means users can charge the glasses on the go, just like previous models. In addition, the Ray-Ban Meta Blazer will come in both regular and large sizes to fit more users comfortably.
Moreover, the new glasses may support the Wi-Fi 6 UNII-4 band. This upgrade can improve connection stability. It will help features such as livestreaming and advanced AI video functions perform better.
Meta and its partner EssilorLuxottica have seen strong demand for their smart glasses. The companies sold more than seven million units last year. This is a big increase compared to only two million units combined in 2023 and 2024. Now, they plan to scale production to tens of millions of units every year.
Meta continues to expand its wearable lineup. The company has already introduced Oakley-branded AI glasses. It has also released Ray-Ban models with built-in displays. However, Meta has reduced its focus on virtual reality. The company cut around 1,000 jobs in its Reality Labs division and closed some VR studios.
These new Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses show Meta’s growing commitment to AI-powered wearables. If launched soon, they will bring better performance and more features to users. The market for smart glasses appears to be expanding rapidly, and Meta wants to lead this trend.
