Sony Increases PS5 and PlayStation Portal Prices Globally

Sony increases PlayStation 5 and Portal prices globally due to rising production costs, effective April 2.

Sony Raises Global Prices for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation Portal

Sony has announced a price increase for its PlayStation 5 lineup and the PlayStation Portal. The company made this decision due to rising costs in the global economy. This change will affect customers in several countries, including the United States and Japan.

Sony explained that higher production expenses and ongoing memory shortages forced this step. The company wants to protect the quality of its gaming platform and services. However, it understands that price hikes may disappoint many users.

The new prices will take effect from April 2. Sony carefully reviewed the situation before making this announcement.

In the United States, the standard PlayStation 5 will now cost $649.99. The Digital Edition will be priced at $599.99. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 Pro will sell for $899.99. Sony has also raised the price of the PlayStation Portal to $249.99.

Similar increases apply in other regions. In the United Kingdom, the standard PS5 will cost £569.99, while the Digital Edition will be £519.99. The Pro model will be available at £789.99. In Europe, prices will rise to €649.99 for the standard model, €599.99 for the Digital Edition, and €899.99 for the Pro version.

In Japan, the standard PlayStation 5 will now cost ¥97,980. The Digital Edition will be priced at ¥89,980, and the Pro model will sell for ¥1,37,980. The PlayStation Portal will also see higher prices across these markets.

Sony had already increased PS5 prices in several countries last year. Other console makers have also adjusted their prices recently because of rising costs. However, Sony has not introduced any new hardware changes or improved features with this price revision.

The company stated that these adjustments will help it maintain strong performance in the gaming business. Still, gamers around the world will now pay more for Sony’s latest consoles and accessories.
