Apple Plans Major Design Overhaul with First Foldable iPhone
Apple is preparing one of the biggest design changes in iPhone history. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company is developing a foldable iPhone that will bring a completely new form factor.
This foldable device will follow a book-style design, similar to foldable phones already available in the market. Gurman described it as the most significant overhaul the iPhone has ever seen. He believes this new design will offer a more immersive experience for watching videos, playing games, and multitasking.
In some cases, the foldable iPhone may even replace the need for a separate iPad. The device is expected to feature a large 7.8-inch foldable main screen and a 5.5-inch cover screen. Apple may use advanced dual-layer glass and self-healing technology to protect the display and reduce visible creases.
Moreover, the phone is likely to include a powerful 2nm A20 Pro chip and Apple’s C2 modem. It will come with dual rear cameras, dual front cameras, and a Touch ID sensor built into the power button. Reports also suggest it will support split-screen apps and an iPad-like interface.
The foldable iPhone is expected to launch at a premium price. In the United States, the 256GB model may cost around $1,999. In China, the same version could be priced at approximately CNY 15,999.
Apple may announce the device in September, but actual sales could begin later, possibly in October. At the same time, the company is also expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models. The standard iPhone 18 models may arrive in spring 2027.
This foldable iPhone represents a major step forward for Apple. After years of gradual updates, the company is finally preparing a bold and revolutionary change to its flagship smartphone.
