Handsets with Large Batteries: A New Era in Smartphone Technology
Smartphone manufacturers are pushing the boundaries of battery life with new devices featuring massive batteries. Two notable examples are Honor and Redmi, both working on handsets with enormous battery capacities.
Honor’s Massive 10,000mAh Battery
Honor is reportedly developing a new addition to its Power series, which could pack a staggering 10,000mAh battery. This feat is typically only seen in devices with larger real estate, such as tablets. The upcoming Honor Power 2 is expected to succeed the Honor Power, which features an 8,000mAh battery using silicon-carbon technology.
Redmi’s 8,500mAh to 9,000mAh Battery
Redmi, Xiaomi’s sub-brand, is also working on a handset with a large battery, ranging between 8,500mAh to 9,000mAh. This would be the largest battery in Redmi’s existing smartphone portfolio. The phone is expected to use silicon-carbon battery technology, which allows for higher capacity without increasing thickness.
Silicon-Carbon Technology: The Game-Changer
Silicon-carbon technology is enabling smartphone manufacturers to pack larger batteries into thinner devices. This technology is being used in both Honor and Redmi’s upcoming devices. The Honor X70, for example, features an 8,300mAh battery with 80W fast charging, despite being only 7.96mm thick.
Other Options
Some other smartphones with notable battery life include:
- vivo T4x 5G: 6,500mAh battery with Dimensity 7300 5G processor
- OnePlus Nord CE5: 7,100mAh battery with 100W SUPERVOOC charging
- Honor Play 70 Plus: 7,000mAh battery with 45W fast wired charging
- Realme 15 Pro 5G: 7,000mAh battery with Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor
These developments signal a new era in smartphone technology, where battery life is no longer a concern. With silicon-carbon technology leading the charge, we can expect even more innovative battery solutions in the future.
