Activision to End Call of Duty: Warzone Support on PS4 and Xbox One

Activision has announced the end of support for Call of Duty: Warzone on last-generation consoles. The popular Battle Royale game will stop working on PS4 and Xbox One later this year. This change aligns with the launch of the next major title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

Modern Warfare 4 will launch on October 23, 2026. The game will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will not support PS4 or Xbox One. Moreover, Warzone will begin integrating content and seasonal progression from Modern Warfare 4 starting with Season 1.

Major Changes for Players

Activision confirmed that Warzone on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will no longer be playable from Season 1 onwards. However, the game will continue to run smoothly on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles.

Additionally, new downloads of Warzone will stop on PS4 and Xbox One from June 4. Players who already have the game installed can continue playing until the Season 1 transition. The in-game store on these platforms will close on June 25. Still, players can complete free Battle Pass tiers and unlock new weapons in the remaining Black Ops 7 seasons.

Progress Transfer and Continuity

Players on last-gen consoles can easily transfer their progress. They simply need to link their Activision account to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC. This transfer includes full progression history and any content purchased with COD Points.

Warzone has followed a pattern of integrating new Call of Duty content each year. This move reflects Activision’s focus on current-generation hardware for better performance and new features. Last month, the company also shut down Warzone Mobile after it failed to meet expectations.
