Sony Launches RX10 V with Powerful 25x Zoom and Advanced AI Features
Sony introduced the RX10 V on Thursday. This latest model joins the popular Cybershot compact camera series. The fifth-generation camera offers impressive zoom power and modern technology for both photography and videography enthusiasts.
The RX10 V features a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm F2.4-4.0 lens with 25x optical zoom. It pairs this lens with a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor. Moreover, Sony’s advanced BIONZ XR image processor powers the system. The camera also includes a dedicated AI processing unit for Real-time Recognition autofocus. Additionally, it supports high-quality 4K 120fps video recording.
Sony RX10 V Price and Availability
Sony prices the RX10 V at EUR 2,499 in Europe, which equals roughly Rs. 2.72 lakh. In the UK, the camera costs about GBP 2,199, or around Rs. 2.81 lakh. Customers can pre-order the device starting today. However, Sony has not yet revealed pricing or availability details for India.
Key Features and Specifications
The Sony RX10 V uses a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with approximately 20.1 effective megapixels. It works together with the powerful BIONZ XR processor. The fixed Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens provides a versatile 24-600mm equivalent focal range and 25x optical zoom. The aperture ranges from f/2.4 to f/4.0. Furthermore, the camera supports macro photography from 3cm at the wide end to 72cm at the telephoto end.
Sony equips the RX10 V with an integrated AI processing unit. This unit enables Real-time Recognition AF. Users can track humans, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and airplanes with ease. The camera also includes Auto recognition mode and human pose estimation technology for better subject tracking. In total, it offers up to 575 phase-detection autofocus points. Moreover, it can shoot blackout-free bursts at up to 30fps with continuous AF/AE tracking.
For video creators, the RX10 V supports 4K recording at up to 120fps with 5x slow-motion playback. It also provides 10-bit 4:2:2 recording, S-Cinetone, S-Log3, Active Mode stabilization, user-imported LUT support, Auto Framing, Time-lapse, and Shot Mark features. On the audio side, it features Sony’s Multi Interface Shoe for compatible microphones.
The camera includes a 0.5-inch Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder with 3.68 million dots and 0.78x magnification. It also has a 3.0-inch tilting LCD touchscreen with 1.62 million dots.
Connectivity and Battery Life
The RX10 V offers strong connectivity options. These include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C with USB 3.2 Gen 2 support, HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Users can connect wirelessly through Sony’s Creators’ App for file transfers, remote shooting, and updates.
The camera runs on an NP-FZ100 battery. Sony claims it delivers up to 630 still shots on a single charge.
