Qualcomm recently teased new Snapdragon 8 Elite chips. The company shared no extra details. A fresh leak from China now suggests possible names.
The leak comes from tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. It claims the official names will differ from earlier rumours.
Qualcomm will introduce the new platforms at its Snapdragon Summit next month. The event takes place in Maui from 22 to 24 September.
The chip with model number SM8950 may carry the name Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The SM8975 chip could be called Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
These names contradict previous reports. Earlier leaks pointed to Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
Qualcomm has not confirmed any of these names. Therefore the information remains unofficial.
The new chips are expected to appear in several flagship Android phones. These include the iQOO 16, OnePlus 16, Xiaomi 17 series and Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Both processors are tipped to use TSMC’s 2 nm process. They may feature a new 2+3+3 Oryon CPU design. The higher-end version could include an Adreno 850 GPU. The standard version may use an Adreno 845 GPU.
The new chips should deliver improvements over last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Official details will arrive at the September summit.
