Sony has added a live TV service to the PS5. The feature gives PlayStation users in the United States more than 100 live channels plus on-demand titles. It sits in the console’s Media tab. Movies, series, anime, sports, and news are part of the mix. Studio and network names attached to the lineup include Amazon MGM Studios, Crunchyroll, Fox, NBCUniversal, the NFL Channel, and UFC.
The service went live for U.S. PS5 owners on August 31. Sony said in a PlayStation Blog post on Monday that it wants to bring the same offering to Canada. Other regions remain under review. India does not have access at present.
A free, ad-supported layer from Sony Pictures Television is also included. Users open it from the same Media section. To start watching, they open Media, choose the Live TV on PS5 icon, and sign in with a PlayStation account.
Free film channels at launch include MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits, and Cinevault. Familiar series titles on the service include Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Deal or No Deal USA, and Fear Factor.
Sports coverage draws on FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now, UFC, and other feeds. American football, hockey, motorsport, golf, boxing, soccer, and MMA are in that group. Creator shows from YouTube and Spotify sit beside traditional channels. Hot Ones and The Ringer are named examples. Extra shelves cover gaming, esports, documentaries, podcasts, and comedy.
In short, Sony is turning the PS5 into a living-room TV box for U.S. accounts. The path in is the Media tab. The catalogue mixes free movies, known series, and live sport. Expansion beyond the United States is planned, but not scheduled for India yet.
