Redmi 17C, Poco M8x 5G and OnePlus N6x Compared on Price and Specs

Xiaomi’s sub-brand launched the Redmi 17C in India earlier this week in three colours. The affordable phone sits against the Poco M8x 5G and the OnePlus N6x. The Redmi 17C and OnePlus N6x use MediaTek Dimensity chipsets, while the Poco M8x uses a Snapdragon chip. All three run Android 16 and carry an IP64 rating. Battery size is the clearest split. The Poco packs 7,900mAh, the OnePlus packs 7,000mAh, and the Redmi packs 6,000mAh.

The Redmi 17C starts at Rs. 20,999 for 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. The 6GB + 128GB model costs Rs. 22,999. Colours are Coffee Brew, Purple Dawn, and Dark Night. The Poco M8x 5G matches those prices: Rs. 20,999 for 4GB + 128GB and Rs. 22,999 for 6GB + 128GB. It comes in Black, Blue, and Leather Green. The OnePlus N6x is cheaper at the base. It costs Rs. 18,999 for 4GB + 64GB and Rs. 20,999 for 4GB + 128GB, in Burgundy Red and Ice Blue.

Displays stay in the same class. The Redmi 17C and Poco M8x 5G both use a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD at 120Hz, with 720 x 1600 pixels. The OnePlus N6x uses a 6.8-inch HD+ LCD at 120Hz, with 720 x 1570 pixels. The Poco adds Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Software differs by brand. The Redmi and Poco run HyperOS 3 on Android 16. The OnePlus ships with OxygenOS 16 on Android 16. All three claim IP64 dust and splash resistance.

The Redmi 17C uses a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset, with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Its 6,000mAh battery supports 33W charging and 10W reverse charging. The Poco M8x 5G uses a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, also with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Its 7,900mAh battery supports 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse charging. The OnePlus N6x uses a MediaTek Dimensity 6360 Apex, with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. Its 7,000mAh battery supports 15W wired charging and 5W reverse charging. All three support 5G.

Cameras favour the Redmi and Poco. The Redmi 17C pairs a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an auxiliary camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The Poco pairs a 50-megapixel primary sensor with a 2-megapixel macro camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The OnePlus N6x uses a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and a 5-megapixel front camera.

Size and weight also differ. The Redmi measures 171.56 x 79.47 x 7.99mm and weighs 211g. The Poco measures 170.12 x 78.43 x 8.80mm and weighs 232g. The OnePlus measures 166.38 x 78.13 x 8.65mm and weighs about 214g.

The three phones sit in a similar price band, but the trade-offs are clear. The OnePlus N6x is the most affordable at the base, yet it charges at only 15W and its rear camera trails the 50-megapixel sensors on the other two. The Redmi 17C balances a 120Hz screen with a 6,000mAh battery and faster 33W charging. The Poco M8x 5G stands out with the largest battery and 45W charging, at a higher weight.
