The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra may feature a thinner body, triple camera, and improved performance.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Leak Points to a Thinner Body and a Triple Camera

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumored to measure 7.9mm thick and weigh 218 grams. That is about 4 grams more than its predecessor, so the recent trend of lighter Ultra phones may pause. The extra mass is tied to a larger 5,700mAh silicon-carbon battery. The flagship is expected in early 2027, with a starting price around $1,499, as component costs rise. These details come from leaks, not a Samsung announcement.

Samsung is also expected to drop the dedicated 3x telephoto camera. The rear setup would shrink from four cameras to three, on a rectangular plateau. Latest renders point to a pill-shaped module. The top section would hold a telephoto lens, followed by a hidden microphone cutout, extra sensors, and an LED flash at the bottom. Leakers have disagreed on the exact layout, so the final arrangement may still change.

The main sensor is said to move to a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP6, described as a modified HPC sensor. The other cameras are tipped as a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel periscope with 5x optical zoom at f/2.9. Image processing is also said to improve. Leaks mention warmer colour, smoother low-light shots, less noise in shadows, and better highlight control so small bright objects do not blow out.

Performance rumors center on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, also referred to as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, built on a 2nm process. Some regions may get a 2nm Exynos 2700 instead. The 5,700mAh battery would sit in the 7.9mm frame and support 60W to 65W wired charging, 25W wireless charging, and Qi2.

The display is expected to stay a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with QHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Leaked screen protectors suggest the front outline, bezels, and edge curve will look almost the same as the previous model. The panel is said to update to an M16 E7 LTPO screen that is about 20 percent more efficient, while keeping an anti-reflective coating. Samsung is also tipped to add a Privacy Display mode that narrows viewing angles. In split-screen use, one app could stay shielded while the other remains normal. Core variants may start at 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, with storage up to 1TB of UFS 4.1.

On software, supply-chain tracking says the Galaxy S27 series entered development earlier than recent generations. Samsung is said to be using a longer test window so One UI 9.5, based on Android 17, launches smoothly. Expected changes include translucent controls, smoother animations, and deeper system-level AI search.
