Airtel Partners with YouTube to Offer Premium Benefits to Prepaid Users
Airtel announced a partnership with YouTube on Friday to deliver YouTube Premium benefits to its prepaid customers in India. The telecom company makes the offer available through an affordable entertainment top-up. This addition gives users ad-free video viewing along with access to YouTube Music Premium and related features.
The benefit remains valid for 28 days. After this period, prepaid subscribers can renew the top-up to continue using the YouTube Premium services. Airtel positions the offering as an extension of its existing prepaid entertainment packages. The company states that the bundle serves customers who rely on mobile data to watch videos, follow creators, stream music, and explore new content.
Airtel includes YouTube Premium in its Rs. 200 OTT top-up. This top-up also provides 30GB of additional data and access to other entertainment platforms. The existing lineup already features Prime Video, JioHotstar, ZEE5 Premium, SonyLIV, and more than 18 other OTT services. As a result, the updated bundle now covers creator videos, YouTube Shorts, and music streaming in addition to films and television shows.
Eligible users can watch YouTube videos without advertisements. They can also play content in the background, download videos for offline viewing, and access YouTube Music Premium. Terms and conditions apply to the offer. The top-up is open to Airtel prepaid customers who maintain an active recharge. Customers can purchase it alongside their existing prepaid plans. Entertainment benefits stay valid for 28 days, matching the top-up validity period.
Airtel prepaid customers can claim the YouTube Premium benefit after buying the Rs. 200 top-up. First, they recharge with an eligible prepaid plan and keep the connection active. Next, they purchase the Rs. 200 OTT top-up that includes 30GB of additional data. Then, they open the Airtel app and go to the ‘Rewards & OTTs’ section. Finally, they select the YouTube Premium benefit and follow the on-screen instructions to activate it.
The benefit ends when the 28-day top-up validity expires. Customers who wish to continue can buy the top-up again and reclaim the benefit. In comparison, YouTube’s standalone subscriptions in India start at Rs. 149 per month for the Individual plan. The Family plan costs Rs. 299 per month and allows up to five members. Plans for two people and students are available at Rs. 219 and Rs. 89, respectively.
This partnership expands Airtel’s prepaid entertainment options and gives users a combined data and streaming package at a competitive price point.
