Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G in select global markets. The phone features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display. It uses a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset and offers up to 512GB of storage. It also includes a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation. A 32-megapixel front camera sits on the front. In addition, the phone packs a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired charging.
The device carries an IP68 rating. It runs HyperOS 3. Reports suggest the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Note 17 Pro Max may arrive in India on September 15.
In Japan, the 8GB + 256GB variant is priced at 79,980 yen, or about Rs. 47,900. The 8GB + 512GB model costs 99,980 yen, or about Rs. 59,900. Colour options include Cloudbrush, Purple and Black.
The 6.83-inch AMOLED panel has 1.5K resolution. Its refresh rate goes up to 120Hz. Peak brightness can reach 3,500 nits. The display also supports 12-bit colour, DCI-P3, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the screen. Moreover, the panel supports 3,840Hz PWM dimming and Wet Touch Technology 2.0.
The Pro Max model pairs the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Storage goes up to 512GB of UFS 4.1. The phone runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. It includes AI tools such as AI Eraser Pro, AI Reflection Removal, AI Image Enhancement, AI Sky and AI Bokeh. Google Gemini features are also mentioned. However, Xiaomi says availability depends on region and software version.
The rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS. An 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens sits beside it. The rear cameras can record 4K video at 30fps. The 32-megapixel front camera also supports 4K video at 30fps.
Connectivity options include 5G, dual SIM, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC. The phone also has an infrared blaster. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, electronic compass, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor.
The 10,000mAh battery supports 100W wired charging. It also supports up to 27W wired reverse charging. Security features include an in-screen fingerprint sensor and facial recognition.
Xiaomi says the phone meets IP66 and IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance. It measures 163.44mm in height, 78.27mm in width and 8.65mm in thickness. The Cloudbrush variant is 8.57mm thick. The phone weighs 229.5 grams.
